Position Overview
The Foundation is seeking a Program Manager who has deep knowledge of our region and the educational resources within it. The Program Manager will support the President and CEO, and collaborate with the Foundation’s other Program Managers, to provide both operational support and programmatic direction to help further the Foundation’s mission. We are seeking a Program Manager who will play a major role in assisting the President and CEO in developing and guiding education-related programmatic and grantmaking activities, while also collaborating on the Foundation’s other areas of focus (arts and culture, human services and civic and community development and engagement). The Program Manager is accountable for a portfolio of relationships and investments that further the Foundation’s educational priorities.
Major Responsibilities
The role of the Program Manager includes, but is not limited to, the following:
- Developing and managing program and operational strategies that will support the President and CEO in guiding the Foundation’s philanthropic portfolio in the education arena
- Identifying, researching, supporting and promoting initiatives that align with the Foundation’s mission
- Developing proposals, both individually and in collaboration with Foundation colleagues, and making funding recommendations for discussion with Foundation colleagues and for consideration and approval by the President and CEO
- Serving as a key resource to Foundation and community colleagues regarding the needs of and the initiatives within the community that align with the Foundation’s mission
- Convening and collaborating with external constituents in conjunction with Foundation colleagues to most effectively utilize and leverage the Foundation’s giving strategy and community citizenship
- Meeting with and responding to questions from current and prospective grantees
- Representing the Foundation at site-visits, meetings, symposia, or programs in the community, as appropriate
- Conducting due diligence, valuation strategies and analyzing outcomes of prior grants
- Other projects and assignments as requested by the President and CEO
Qualifications
We seek someone with the following:
- A bachelor’s degree is required; an advanced degree is a plus
- Experience working in the education arena, particularly in the continuum from pre-K to workforce entry
- Experience working with underserved youth and families
- An understanding of the broad spectrum of philanthropy, including trends in giving and key issues for potential collaborators
- Creative visioning and strategic planning skills; knowledge of evolving technologies is a plus
- Proven leadership and problem-solving experience
- Organized self-starter who can multi-task and requires minimal supervision
- Ability to exercise discretion and good judgment
- Strong relationship-building, networking and collaboration skills, both internally and externally
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- A willingness to work on-site in the Foundation’s office--this is not a remote position
