Mentoring Plus is seeking a dynamic, mission-driven Executive Director to lead our organization in empowering youth through structured mentoring programs. This role is ideal for a hands-on leader who is equally passionate about program excellence and building strong relationships with donors, the community, and our board.

Job Description

Key Responsibilities

Program Support & On-Site Leadership

  • Be present at the program site to support staff, mentors, and youth participants as needed.
  • Build strong, trusting relationships with staff, mentors, and kids through daily engagement.
  • Provide direct guidance and encouragement to the Program Director, case managers, and volunteer coordinator.
  • Observe program activities, offer feedback, and help ensure a safe, positive, and enriching environment.
  • Foster a culture of mentorship, respect, and inclusion.
  • Address challenges and celebrate successes with staff and volunteers.
  • Ensure program quality, compliance, and continuous improvement.

Donor, Community, and Board Relationship Development

  • Cultivate and steward relationships with current and prospective donors.
  • Lead fundraising efforts, including donor development, grant procurement, and annual events.
  • Representing Mentoring Plus in the community, building partnerships with schools, courts, businesses, agencies, and local leaders.
  • Enhance the organization’s visibility and reputation through effective communications and outreach.
  • Work closely with the Board of Directors, providing updates, seeking input, and supporting board development.
  • Participate in strategic planning and organizational growth initiatives.

 Qualifications

  • Commitment to being present and engaged with staff, mentors, and kids.
  • Proven leadership experience in youth development, mentoring, or nonprofit management.
  • Background in education, youth services, or related fields preferred.
  • Strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills.
  • Experience in fundraising, donor relations, and community engagement.
  • Ability to collaborate with diverse groups and lead a high-performing team.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and strategic planning skills.
  • Passion, integrity, positive attitude, and mission-driven approach.
  • Competent at public speaking and comfortable representing the organization at external events.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
  • Basic skills managing social media platforms for organizations (e.g., Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn).
  • Basic skills in website maintenance (updating content, posting news/events, troubleshooting minor issues).
