PARACHUTE: Butler County CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocates) is seeking qualified candidates for the position of Volunteer Manager. The ideal candidate will have 2 years’ experience in community social services or legal support advocacy and strong computer skills.  Prior staff or volunteer supervision is a plus.

JOB SUMMARY

Employed by and responsible to PARACHUTE: Special Advocates for Children of Butler County, the CASA Volunteer Manager is responsible for providing adequate screening, training and supervision of CASA volunteers who are working with abused, neglected and dependent children and their families, and ensuring the quality of case monitoring and advocacy efforts of the PARACHUTE CASA volunteer.

This position is Full-time, exempt and does require periodic evening and weekend hours.

JOB DUTIES

CASA Volunteer Management

  • Assist in screening potential CASA volunteers.
    • Review applications, including record checks and references.
    • Conduct personal interviews to determine level of skills and acceptability.
  • Assist in training and in-service training along with other PARACHUTE staff as assigned by Executive Director.
  • Supervise and support CASA volunteers throughout the course of each case
  • Assist CASA volunteer in initial case plan
  • Maintain contact with CASA volunteers and remain available for individual supervision on an as needed basis according to CASA standards.
  • Assist CASA volunteers with compiling court reports.
  • Keep Executive Director apprised of case situations and needs of CASA volunteers.
  • Assist in coordination of ongoing CASA volunteer recognition activities.
  • Periodic individual CASA volunteer recognition.Special events or promotions.

Data Specialist

  • Maintain systems and protocols to collect information required for a variety of funders, Ohio CASA and National CASA. This information will need to be monitored regularly as these requirements change frequently.
  • Tracks, monitors and reports on all volunteer Pre-Service & In-service training; updates files on speakers, topics and training materials to maintain a relevant and effective volunteer training program.
  • Assist in assuring all required case information is collected and up to date in database.
  • Assist staff in collection of required monthly volunteer hours.
  • Assist volunteers in data collection and training for volunteers to use agency software; including monthly volunteer contact hours, placement information and collection of court reports.

Program Evaluation/Administration

  • Keep Executive Director apprised of status of cases/volunteer management.
  • Assist in resolution of any concerns of CASA volunteers, court staff, BCCS professionals, clients or others.
  • Keep data and statistics updated as needed for outcomes, grant management, and/or program evaluation.

Outreach

  • Promote philosophy of CASA in community.
  • Participate in public relations/community education efforts of PARACHUTE program.

Professional Development

  • Maintain knowledge of current significant theory, literature and resources and local statistics as related to CASA and PARACHUTE.
  • Participate in continuing education as related to job.

 

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience. Knowledge of child abuse and neglect, family systems, CASA organization and community social service agencies. Experience in areas of staff supervision and volunteer management helpful.
