Job Description

JOB TITLE:  Volunteer Director  

REPORTS TO: The Executive Director at St. Francis Seraph Ministries (SFSM), a nonprofit organization building upon the legacy of the Franciscan Friars in service to the poor and marginalized in Over-the-Rhine.

PURPOSE:  The Volunteer Director will develop, promote, and maintain a wide range of volunteer opportunities within the organization. This individual will recruit, interview, train, and place applicants in volunteer roles.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:        

  • Ensure volunteers are staffed to support the various areas of operation for all of the programs.
  • Maintain role descriptions for each volunteer assignment.
  • Survey program directors regularly to assess their need for volunteers.
  • Recommend the most efficient use of volunteers to support each program.
  • Schedule all volunteer activity for programs and events.
  • With the executive director, develop policies and procedures and standards for volunteer service.
  • Evaluate on a regular basis the various aspects of the volunteer program to ensure quality and effectiveness and volunteer satisfaction.
  • Obtain volunteer feedback through comment forms and surveys.
  • Organize volunteer recognition programs and other special events.
  • Host and attend various recruiting events within the community to attract and maintain qualified candidates.
  • Use social media and various websites to recruit volunteers.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with other volunteer organizations within the area.
  • Interview individuals interested in volunteering and enter their information into the volunteer database.
  • Schedule and conduct orientation and training for volunteers.
  • Maintain accurate records and provide timely statistical and activity reports on volunteer participation.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

 QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with diverse groups of people.
  • Strong skills in marketing, training, and/or customer service.
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred but not required.
  • Commitment to the mission and values of SFSM.

 Competitive salary and benefits package. This is a full-time exempt position.
