Job Summary

Position Summary: The Special Events Coordinator is responsible for raising awareness of both Family Nurturing Center and the issue of child abuse and neglect in the community through recurring and new events. He/She plans and executes comprehensive friend-raising and fund-raising events to increase the sphere of influence and build the brand of Family Nurturing Center and meet fundraising goals.

Job Description

Primary Duties: • Identify goals, develop plans and execute annual events, including Child Abuse Prevention Month campaign, Agency Signature event, staff events, and other events as needed. • Responsible for securing silent/live auction items for successful events and to meet mutually established revenue goals for planned events. • Develop and propose event budgets. Ensure expenses fall within approved budget. • Collaborate with Director of Development to develop sponsorship collateral, as needed. • Coordinate logistics of the event, including a detailed run of show and staff and volunteer assignments. • Serve as primary contact for event vendors, including researching services, seeking bids, reviewing contracts, managing expectations and processing invoices. • Anticipate and mitigate risks related to special events, and develop contingency plans as appropriate. • Communicate regularly with the Director of Development, Marketing and Communications Coordinator and other staff to promote events and event sponsors. • Conduct post-event meetings to determine goal attainment, event successes and opportunities for process improvement. Synthesize information into written reports. • Work closely with Strategic Marketing & Branding committee, Prom for a Purpose committee and agency volunteers to promote the organization and its mission. Job Requirements: Bachelor's Degree required with relevant event management experience. Requires a shared vision and philosophy that promotes and enhances the mission of FNC. Recommended Qualifications: Experience: At least two years professional experience spanning the full spectrum of special events and graphic design experience a plus. All positions at Family Nurturing Center require a shared vision and philosophy that promotes and enhances the agency mission, the ability to handle sensitive information and maintain high level of confidentiality, and demonstrated cultural competence and the ability to work effectively with diverse groups of people. Experience with GiveSmart Auction Platform software and understanding of child abuse and childhood trauma preferred. Skills: Proven ability to think strategically, produce and implement successful events with measurable outcomes and adjust strategies to maximize goal attainment. Demonstrated ability to multitask while maintaining attention to details. Experience with proposals. Ability to initiate and maintain positive relationships with volunteers, corporate and agency partners, donors, board members, and staff and to inspire involvement in organizational priorities. Proficiency with Microsoft Office.
