The Resident Technician is primarily responsible for the trauma informed care and supervision of youth residents at the YES Home (including physical, mental, emotional, social and spiritual well-being). Resident Technicians are also responsible for implementing assigned trauma informed treatment services, maintaining accurate documentation of services and ensuring that the daily routine of the facility is upheld. Key Areas, Responsibilities and Duties:
- Provide a safe, positive, and nurturing environment for the residents.
- Performing duties associated with the day to day trauma informed training, modeling and skill building of a residential home for youth.
- Teaching and participating in trauma informed individual and group instruction in daily living, recreational activities, social skills, and independent living skills as prescribed by each youth’s individual treatment plan and the YES Home program.
- Follow YES Home trauma informed program plan, including daily schedule, administration of treatment plan and prescribed medication of youth in residential care.
- Demonstrate the highest investment in and commitment to quality improvement practices in order to continuously improve the delivery of services to our residents.
- Participate in and contribute to treatment team, including attending weekly team meetings and staffing, as required.
- Attend trainings, seminars, and conferences as assigned by supervisor.
- Complete in timely and accurate fashion all documentation required for the position.
- Maintain confidentiality all information concerning agency, residents and programs.
- Provide supervision for youth at all times while on duty.
- Provide meals according to State regulations alternating preparation time with other staff members.
- Coordinate with staff and members of the community to provide for social, health, educational, and religious needs of the residents.
- Adhere to established discipline and procedure policies as outlined in handbook, personnel policies, and In House manual.
- Develop and/or support group activities.
- Transport residents to school, visits, approved activities and appointments.
- Serve as a positive role model for the residents that reside at YES.
- Deep Cleaning.
- Case Review.
Administration/ Record Keeping:
- Supervision and upkeep of house and chores (when leaving your shift, the house and staff office will be in order).
- Enforce the House rules and responsibilities as stated in the Yes Home policy manual and handbook.
- Chart in residents daily progress reports regarding behavior and complete incident reports. Reports are to be given and discussed with Supervisor and/or Executive Director.
- Full time will acquire a minimum of 20 hours a year training in child care seminars and workshops either in house or in the community. (at least 10 hours for part time staff)
- Will rotate holidays with other staff.
Job Relationships:
- The Resident Technician reports to the Assistant Director/Case Manager.
- Maintain confidentiality regarding pay, disciplinary action as well as youth information.
- Discuss any conflicts one on one or go directly to your supervisor.
Qualifications:
- Mature individual at least twenty one (21) years of age.
- Have no history of child abuse, neglect or sexual molestation or abuse, no felony convictions (or qualify for a waiver from the state background check unit.)
- Must sign a statement regarding release for criminal reference check and criminal affidavit.
- A copy of high school diploma or GED equivalent and Child care experience must be in personnel file.
- Must have a valid driver’s license.
- If served in the armed forces, must have written proof of type of discharge.
- Must have ability to work effectively with children, adults, other staff and agency representatives from the community.
- Must have a physical exam upon hiring and a mantoux test every year thereafter.
- Must adhere to confidentiality policy of the agency.
- Must complete training in CPR and first aid every two years.
- Must complete 40 hour orientation & Child Care training.
- Work hours will be up to ((80 hours) eighty hours per pay period. Hours are determined by the needs of the residents in the home.
- Willing attitude to meet the needs of the YES Home.
