Organizational Summary:

At Melanoma Know More, we believe in a world free from the threat of melanoma. Our mission is to reduce the impact of melanoma through awareness, education, support of medical research, and assistance to persons affected by melanoma.

 

United by renowned melanoma oncology specialist, Dr. Philip Leming, families of Dr Leming’s patients and other melanoma advocates formed a group in 2007, determined to generate awareness about melanoma and educate the community on the importance of early detection and prevention practices in honor of their loved ones. Since then, MKM has developed successful program initiatives, brought awareness to this disease, and continues the fight against melanoma. In 2019, Melanoma Know More joined forces with the Andy Caress Melanoma Foundation to create the only Melanoma focused organization in Greater Cincinnati. Melanoma Know More Melanoma Know More is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization with a committed staff, an active Board of Directors and hundreds of volunteers in the community.

 

Position Summary 

The Program Manager oversees and assists in the development and management of the organization’s programing initiatives.  This position will also include bookkeeping and administration support. This is a part-time (approx. 20 hours) non-exempt employee position.

 

Specific Program Responsibilities:

Skin Cancer Screenings Clinics:

            Manage the free skin cancer screening clinic program by:

  • Setting up the clinic schedule for the year by working with hospital systems and dermatology practices to have a clinic each month, making sure they are at a variety of locations around the tri-state area.
  • Ensure there are volunteer dermatology providers, RN’s, and administrative volunteers to cover all the roles at the clinics.
  • Coordinate the administration details and logistics (supplies needed, diagnosis stats recorded, etc.)
  • Administer the patient appointment sign ups
  • Work with the ED to provide marketing & PR for the clinics
  • Attend the clinics to support the volunteers and providers

 

Other Programs:

Coordinate and Manager volunteers and logistics for:

    • Melanoma Awareness Month
    • Community Outreach & Health Fairs
    • Sunscreen Station Program
    • School & Youth Education -Scouting Programs          

           

Special Events

Provide logistical support for programs and special events as directed by the Executive Director

    • Flying Pig
    • Susan Roebuck Memorial Golf Outing
    • Music for Melanoma
    • Taste of Cincinnati
    • Other Third Party Events

Administrative Support:

  • Provide detailed financial bookkeeping, including posting deposits and expenses in QuickBooks and assisting in the development of monthly financial reports with the Treasurer and Executive Director
  • Maintain and update the organizational donor database
  • Provide Donor support and assist with thank you notes and record keeping.
  • Provide support for the Board to include attending bi-monthly Board meetings and taking meeting minutes
  • Provide logistical support for programs and special events as directed by the Executive Director
  • Work with the Executive Director and Program Coordinator on the recruitment and management of volunteers that support programs and events
  • With ED, review strategic plan annually and create new initiatives as needed.
  • Attend evening and weekend meetings as needed
  • Attend all fundraising events
  • Perform other duties as assigned
  •  

Marketing & PR:

  • Create presentations, documents, letters, etc. on an as-needed basis
  • Work with ED to improve and maintain the website
  • Work with ED to create PR and Social Media Strategy
  • Monitor Website, Facebook, Instagram, YouTube

Education/Experience Requirements:

  • Written communication and presentation skills
  • Program and project management experience preferred
  • Basic financial and bookkeeping skills
  • Ability to juggle multiple priorities and projects
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred and/or comparable experience
  • Prior experience in managing volunteers preferred
  • Excellent computer skills (QuickBooks, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, database management)
  • Ability to lift 25+ pounds
  • Ability to serve as a positive, professional, and ethical representative of Melanoma Know More in the community
