Job Summary

The Spina Bifida Coalition, Inc. seeks a Program Assistant who has a passion for helping others
with a comprehensive understanding of child-onset chronic health conditions and/or
developmental disabilities. The Program Assistant will support the Program Manager to
develop and implement programs related to all of the organization’s pillars (advocacy,
connection, education, and support) to empower people living with spina bifida to achieve their
maximum potential in Greater Cincinnati, Eastern Ohio, and West Virginia. This position is
hourly and although flexible, will include weekend and evening commitments.

Job Description

Candidates must demonstrate excellent interpersonal, oral and written communication, be selfdirected,
flexible, a team player, compassionate, understand the importance of confidentiality,
and exhibit strong problem-solving skills. In addition, a High School diploma and either an
Associate’s Degree or relevant vocational experience in human or customer services field is
required.

Responsibilities
Plan, coordinate, promote, and oversee in person and virtual events, both social and
educational in collaboration with other SBC staff. Duties to include, but not limited to:
• Establish event budget and document expenses
• Investigate and secure venues
• Engage presenters and/or entertainment
• Seek and direct volunteers
• Obtain necessary materials/decorations
• Organize food, serving supplies, and tableware required
• Design and distribute promotional materials using Canva graphics application, Salsa
online communication and registration software, and social media (Facebook and
Twitter) and track registration
• Coordinate set up and tear down of event
• Act as host and staff representative at SBC events, whether in person or virtual
• Solicit donations as appropriate, such as food items or services
• Be responsible for photo documentation of events


Job Competencies
Working knowledge of regional and national resources that support people with intellectual
and developmental disabilities and chronic health conditions
Strong computer skills and confidence using Microsoft programs, including Word, Powerpoint,
and Excel, as well as a basic understanding of accounting spreadsheets (Quickbooks) and mail
merge functions
Ability to work remotely; must have access to high-speed internet to conduct online meetings,
and a computer and printer to work independently from home
Fluency with Zoom software for both meetings and virtual presentations


Physical Demands
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an
employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. The employee is
occasionally required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools or controls; reach
with hands and arms; stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl; talk or hear; and taste or smell. The
employee must have access to reliable transportation to transport materials and supplies to
and from events and may occasionally lift or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities
required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth
perception and the ability to adjust focus.
