New Ventures/Business Development Consultant
Girl Scouts of Western Ohio is seeking a New Ventures/Business Development Consultant to support the council’s sustainability and capacity building strategy by identifying, evaluating, and implementing new revenue-generating opportunities that strengthen the organization’s financial sustainability and scale mission-focused resources. Working closely with the CEO, executive leadership, and the Board of Directors, the consultant will help translate strategic concepts into actionable business opportunities supporting the council through feasibility analysis, due diligence, structure evaluation, transaction support, launch and integration planning and execution for mission-aligned business ventures. This role is ideal for an experienced business development professional with a forward-thinking, entrepreneurial mindset with success launching and scaling mission-driven ventures. This position is a contract engagement with a defined scope of work. The consultant will be accountable to the Chief Executive Officer and Board of Directors.

SCOPE OF WORK
Opportunity Assessment
- Identify and evaluate potential revenue-generating opportunities, including acquisitions, franchises, joint ventures, partnerships, and social enterprise models.
- Conduct market research, competitive analysis, and feasibility assessments to inform decision-making.
- Develop business cases, financial models, and risk assessments for proposed opportunities.
- Support the work of the Board’s Task Group by translating strategy into actionable recommendations.
- Lead incubation, testing and scaling of new business ventures that deliver measurable financial and social impact.
Transaction Support
- Source and evaluate potential acquisition or partnership opportunities aligned with the council’s mission and revenue diversification goals.
- Execute due diligence efforts, including financial, legal, operational, and strategic analysis.
- Coordinate with brokers, sellers, legal counsel, financial advisors, and internal stakeholders to operationalize the strategy.
- Oversee contract review, deal structuring, and transaction documentation in collaboration with legal and finance partners.
Implementation & Integration
- Develop post-transaction transition or post-launch integration plans, including governance, operational alignment, and performance tracking.
- Identify key risks and dependencies associated with new ventures and recommend mitigation strategies.
- Support change management, transition and implementation activities to position new ventures for long-term success.
Advisory & Stakeholder Engagement
- Serve as a strategic advisor to the CEO and executive leadership on revenue growth and business development initiatives.
- Prepare materials and presentations for executive leadership and board review.
- Provide regular updates on progress, findings, risks, and recommendations.
QUALIFICATIONS
- At least 10 years of leadership experience in business development, mergers & acquisitions, strategic growth consulting, executive leadership, entrepreneurship or related field.
- Demonstrated experience evaluating and advancing complex business opportunities.
- Strong financial and analytical skills, including experience with financial modeling and ROI analysis.
- Experience supporting or participating in M&A transactions, partnerships, venture capital or business launches.
- Ability to work independently, manage multiple workstreams and operate effectively in ambiguous environments.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including experience presenting to senior leaders or boards.
- Experience with post-merger integration or business launch execution.
- Entrepreneurial or business ownership experience.
- Familiarity with nonprofit, social enterprise or mission-driven organizations.
- Advanced business degree.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY
This position has no direct supervisory responsibilities.
POSITION TYPE/EXPECTED HOURS OF WORK
This is a contract position, with variable hours based on workload, expected to range from 15-30 hours per week. Hours of work and days are Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. with some evening and weekend work required as job duties demand. While remote flexibility is envisioned, onsite work and limited travel will be required.
ENGAGEMENT TERMS
- Engagement is for a 6-12 month period with the opportunity for potential extension based on funding.
- Compensation: Negotiable based on experience and qualifications. Consultants should present desired fee for service as part of proposal package.
- This role is an independent contractor, 1099 classification and is not an employee of Girl Scouts of Western Ohio.
