Job Title: Exhibitions and Gallery Fellowship Manager

Compensation: Competitive salary commensurate with experience. Comprehensive employee benefits package includes health insurance (80% paid by ArtWorks), life insurance with AD&D, ST and LT disability (100% paid by ArtWorks), generous paid time off, up to12 weeks for individual/family leave fully paid, 401k plan with ArtWorks match of 100% on first 4% of salary, 11 holidays and a year-end winter break of 5 days, $25 per month of cell phone reimbursement, and investment in career development. Vision and dental provided at employee cost.

Salary Range: $40,000 - $52,000 which will be prorated based on a 30-hour work week

Job Type: Exempt, Part Time, 30 hours per week

Job Description

ArtWorks is actively seeking a dynamic individual to play a pivotal role in shaping ArtWorks exhibitions and gallery identity. The Exhibition responsibilities include curating diverse and thematically relevant art exhibitions, leading the design layout, maintaining records of art and sales and expanding exhibition partnerships regionally with increased financial opportunity for the organization and for artists to showcase and sell their work. The role is also responsible for the Gallery Fellowship Program which includes effective recruitment strategies, enhancing diversity with Gallery Fellow participants, contributing to the shaping of professional development programming for Gallery Fellows and engaging the community and new partnerships to support the program. In this dynamic role, you'll be fostering a vibrant and inclusive artistic community, creating engaging programming for exhibitions, and making significant contributions to positive youth development at ArtWorks.

 

Key Responsibilities:

Gallery and Exhibition Management

  • Curate diverse and thematically relevant art exhibitions to shape the Gallery Fellowship and V2 gallery's identity, emphasizing curatorial excellence
  • Lead design layout for exhibitions, ensuring a compelling and cohesive visual experience with a focus on exhibition planning efficiency
  • Craft compelling copy for promoting exhibitions and artists, cultivating relationships with potential buyers, and facilitating sales transactions efficiently
  • Maintain comprehensive records of art and sales, ensuring organized documentation
  • Handle artwork logistics, including safe packing for customer pick-up
  • Utilize project management best practices, including detailed project schedules, budgets, and communication platforms, with on time completion against budget and schedule.
  • Develop and send exhibition contracts to artists
  • Develop proposals and steward strategic partnerships to produce exhibitions in other public spaces, expanding the reach and impact of ArtWorks' exhibitions
  • Facilitate Red Door Exhibition Management, including call-to-artists, securing and setting up pop-up venues, and managing sales

Program Development for Artists & Community

  • Plan and execute engaging events, including exhibition openings, artist talks, and receptions, managing guest lists, and delegating tasks
  • Implement effective recruitment strategies to enhance diversity in the Gallery Fellowship Program, with a specific focus on diverse youth recruitment to meet DEIAB goals
  • Contribute to the development of professional development programming for Gallery Fellows
  • Create and facilitate inclusive, accessible, and arts-based programming for the public, ensuring a community-focused approach
  • Build positive relationships with the lead artist of the Gallery Fellowship program, provide guidance, and ensure artists have all materials necessary
  • Manage gallery docents and develop gallery docent training for new docent program

Other Duties as Assigned:

  • Embrace flexibility and take on additional responsibilities as needed to contribute to the overall success and growth of the organization.

Qualifications and experiences:

  • Commitment to ArtWorks’ mission, values, culture and Equity, Diversity, Inclusion & Accessibility Plan
  • Bachelor's degree in Art History, Fine Arts, Arts Administration, or relevant experience in a related field
  • Proven experience in curating diverse and thematically relevant art exhibitions
  • Strong background in events planning and engagement, particularly arts-based programming
  • Experience in leading design layout for exhibitions or working at a gallery
  • Familiarity with handling artwork logistics, including safe packing for customer pick-up
  • Strong skills in developing proposals and attracting and retaining new diverse partners for exhibitions and gallery fellowship program
  • Must be willing to work outside of normal business hours when needed
