Job Description

Started in 2003, May We Help is a nonprofit organization headquartered in Cincinnati Ohio, whose mission is to provide free-of-cost support through volunteer led, innovative custom solutions and access to adaptive equipment.  Our volunteers engineer dreams that transform an inability to a capability, thereby fostering long term independence for people with disabilities.

Position Description:

The Executive Director is the “face of the organization”. Working closely with the Board, the Executive Director provides operational, financial, strategic, marketing/fundraising and relationship leadership. The Executive Director is the staff liaison with several Board Committees and teams.

Key Responsibilities:

Operations

  • Work together with the Board to establish and uphold the organization's mission, vision and values.
  • Work closely with the Board to plan agendas, conduct business and facilitate all decision-making processes.
  • Oversee day-to-day activities of the entire organization.
  • Provide personnel leadership to staff and volunteers and fosters an environment of empowerment and support. Focus on individual growth and development of all staff members.
  • Manage all legal, risk and human resource responsibilities.

Financial

  • Develop short-term and long-term financial plans. Ensure sound financial and risk controls are in place.
  • Establish annual budget and report monthly profit and loss and balance sheet to the Board.
  • Develop and manage plan to obtain revenue goals via foundation grants, annual events, corporate and individual donations.

Strategic

  • Provide strategic vision; design, develop and implement strategic plans.

Marketing, Fundraising and Relationship Building

  • Own the overall marketing strategy, including identifying and reaching the target markets through relevant channels regarding:
    • Clients (agencies, families)
    • Donors (foundations, individuals, sponsors)
    • Partners
    • Corporate sponsorships
    • C-level executives
  • Build and maintain marketing assets to build greater awareness.
  • Represent the organization at all public-relations activities, establishing relationships with donors, the community, the media and other organizations.
  • Effectively communicate the mission and impact of MWH, spreading awareness to a broader audience.
  • Manage and lead all fundraising efforts.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Ten or more years of business or operations experience including 5+ years in a leadership role.
  • Passion for our Mission, Vision and Values of the organization.
  • Organized and detailed oriented; meets deadlines and is responsive to communication.
  • Ability to deliver presentations to large and small groups.
  • Proficient in marketing strategy, especially new media marketing.
  • Intimate knowledge of non-profit fundraising.
  • Collaborative leadership style in an operations, administration or finance role.
  • Strong networking abilities and relationship builder
  • Strong interpersonal skills and experience building and managing teams with staff and volunteer leaders.
  • Primary responsibility for setting and meeting budgets.
  • Ability to read and interpret financial statements.
  • Experienced and comfortable working with individuals with handicaps and disabilities

Geographic and Work Routine Requirements:

  • Must live in the Greater Cincinnati area
  • Must be present on-site at least 60% of the work week
  • Must be available for flexible work hours to attend periodic events after hours and on weekends in support of the May We Help mission

Compensation:

  • The starting annual salary range for this position is $85K – $100K.
