As the next Executive Director of Little Miami Conservancy, you will help continue our 60-year history as a highly trusted advocate for the Little Miami River Valley. The next Executive Director will have the ability to help build and strengthen the team over time, beginning with the addition of an operations role and other direct or third-party support resources as deemed appropriate.

Executive Director – Little Miami Conservancy

As the next Executive Director of Little Miami Conservancy, you will help continue our 60-year history as a highly trusted advocate for the Little Miami River Valley. The next Executive Director will have the ability to help build and strengthen the team over time, beginning with the addition of an operations role and other direct or third-party support resources as deemed appropriate.

Primary focus areas include:

  • Fundraising & donor cultivation to support ongoing operations and projects
  • Public advocacy for the Little Miami River
  • Partnerships & community relations
  • Strategic planning & long-term growth
  • Organizational leadership
  • New funding mechanisms to meet capital needed for continued conservation opportunities

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the development and execution of a comprehensive, multi-year, multi-channel fundraising strategy, such as annual campaign and membership support, major donor cultivation plan, planned giving, corporate partnerships and matching donations, and expanded grant pipelines.
  • Serve as the public spokesperson and advocate for the Little Miami River across the region.
  • Build strategic partnerships with government agencies, park districts, land trusts, corporate leaders, and community stakeholders.
  • Lead implementation of the organization’s strategic plan and advise the Board on long-term growth.
  • Provide financial oversight including budgeting, cash flow monitoring, and compliance.
  • Oversee property portfolio strategy and conservation priorities.
  • Recruit, hire and supervise an Operations Manager, and manage additional staff or outsourced functions as needed.

Leadership Profile

  • Proven fundraiser with major donor cultivation experience.
  • A collaborative leader with the ability to share all successes and carry all losses,
  • Compelling communicator and public advocate.
  • Experienced nonprofit leader comfortable working with a Board of Directors.
  • Financially literate and strategic in decision-making.
  • Passionate about conservation and environmental stewardship.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of leadership experience in nonprofit, conservation, environmental, or related sector.
  • Demonstrated success in fundraising and donor development.
  • Experience managing budgets and overseeing financial health.
  • Experience working with and reporting to a Board of Directors.
  • Knowledge of land trusts and conservation easements is helpful..
