Job Summary

The Engagement Coordinator, Digital Marketing and Events is responsible for supporting the efforts of the External Relations team and the St. Vincent de Paul strategic plan to promote and engage the community in the mission of SVDP. The position encompasses two key functions: marketing and engagement (75% of the time, approximately 30 hours/week) and supporting events and drives (25% of the position, approximately 10 hours/week).

Job Description

 Job Title: Engagement Coordinator, Digital Marketing and Events

 Reports to: Senior Marketing and Communications Manager

Hours: 40 hours/week, Full-Time Exempt

Location: SVDP’s Liz Carter Center (1125 Bank Street)

Background:

 St. Vincent de Paul – Cincinnati (SVDP) has served residents of Greater Cincinnati for over 150 years with basic needs such as food, medicine, and homelessness prevention through its outreach center in the West End and 53 parish-based volunteer Conferences. SVDP provides holistic direct assistance and systemic change services while treating neighbors in need with dignity and compassion.

Scope of Position:

The Engagement Coordinator, Digital Marketing and Events is responsible for supporting the efforts of the External Relations team and the St. Vincent de Paul strategic plan to promote and engage the community in the mission of SVDP. The position encompasses two key functions: marketing and engagement (75% of the time, approximately 30 hours/week) and supporting events and drives (25% of the position, approximately 10 hours/week).

Under the supervision of the Senior Manager of Marketing and Communications, the Engagement Coordinator enhances the organization’s digital presence, functioning as the executor of SVDP’s social media marketing strategy and storytelling, email marketing campaigns, and website management. This position will create and execute multi-channel digital marketing campaigns, bringing to life the mission of SVDP with creative graphic design, copywriting, video/photography, and storytelling. This role will review and analyze data and trends to drive continuous online improvement and optimize internal channels. The Engagement Coordinator serves as the online representative of SVDP and as a liaison between donors, neighbors, and its social audiences.

This Engagement Coordinator will also support our Events and Partnerships Manager with events and drives, providing marketing expertise and playing an integral role in event logistics, preparation, and execution. Specifically, the Engagement Coordinator will help plan and execute SVDP’s three main fundraising events and smaller stewardship events, and facilitate donation drives (coats, food, toys, etc.) with community partners, including local businesses, schools, churches, and other groups.

This position provides in-depth experience to an aspiring marketing professional, offering a well-rounded approach to learning and growth in nonprofit marketing and development.

Responsibilities include:

  1. Manage SVDP’s social media calendar in collaboration with SVDP’s Senior Manager of Marketing & Communications. Write, schedule, and create content that engages a wide audience, including donors, neighbors needing SVDP’s services, thrift store shoppers, volunteers, and the wider Cincinnati community. Ongoing creation and design of social media graphics and marketing materials templates in line with SVDP’s brand guidelines and standards.
  2. Support SVDP’s internal and external communications through story banking. Identify neighbors, volunteers, donors, and other individuals willing to share testimony of their engagement with SVDP; arrange interviews and write stories to be featured in various organizational communications, including quarterly newsletters, donor appeals, Annual Report, email marketing, etc.
  3. Oversee SVDP’s intra-office newsletter, providing regular updates to SVDP staff to promote engagement with programs, initiatives, and events; fosters a spirit of inclusivity.
  4. Support SVDP’s visual storytelling through photography and produce videos for SVDP’s social media platforms. This role will attend various events and take photos.
  5. Lead updates and maintenance of SVDP’s WordPress website, including simple graphic design work, writing new copy, and updating existing copy, as needed.
  6. On an ongoing basis, utilize Google Analytics and SEO reporting to optimize keywords for each webpage and work with the Senior Manager of Marketing & Communications to develop content changes.
  7. Support fundraising and engagement events, from the initial conceptual planning stage to day-of logistics. Manages silent auctions for SVDP’s events: solicit donations of gift cards, experiences, and items from local businesses and other groups; develop communications for auctions; package items; train volunteers.
  8. Serve as a main point of contact for select community partners supporting SVDP through a donation drive (to collect items such as food, coats, and personal care items); facilitate logistics of these efforts.
  9. Monitors SVDP’s digital presence and responds to comments or messages on social media. Provides support for reputation management, including monitoring questions or comments on user review sites such as Google, Yelp, Facebook, etc.
  10. Support and perform other duties for the External Relations Team as needed.

Qualifications: 

  • Understanding of and commitment to the mission of St. Vincent de Paul.
  • 2+ years of professional experience in a relevant field, such as marketing, graphic design, digital engagement, journalism, communications, public relations, etc.
  • Experience managing social media for an organization, including the creation of social media graphics, captions, and templates that fit marketing brand and guidelines.
  • Experience working in WordPress or a similar platform is preferred but not required.
  • Knowledge of digital marketing metrics and reporting.
  • Proficient in various social media platforms, including Instagram, TikTok, Facebook, and LinkedIn. Can assess trends and implement high-quality, engaging content. Knows of, or is willing to learn, Meta ads for business.
  • Possesses great attention to detail; strong writing skills with minimal spelling or grammatical errors.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Adaptability to a fast-paced work environment.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with various constituent groups.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Word and Excel, and preferred proficiency with Canva or Adobe InDesign.
  • High school or equivalent diploma required; associates or bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • Availability to work some event-related evenings and weekends.

 Physical Requirements: Job duties can primarily be performed using standard office equipment from a desk—the occasional requirement to lift items of 20 pounds for special events.
