Job Description: Be our word person! The Cincinnati Bar Association is seeking a part-time Editor & Communications Specialist to help us communicate in the legal community. We are looking for an experienced writer who has a way with words and is excited to promote the CBA and our members.

About us: We are a downtown non-profit professional organization serving thousands of attorneys in Greater Cincinnati. Our mission is to serve our members and educate the public. We provide educational training, professional development opportunities and fun social events to our attorney members.

Responsibilities:

  • Serve as a primary writer and editor for organization’s magazine, website, and marketing efforts, including emails and social media.
  • Provide editorial expertise and develop style guidelines based on AP style.
  • Develop communications strategies across organizational channels, including print and digital.
  • Collaborate with staff and external clients to create content.
  • Serve as marketing coordinator.
  • Develop relationships with representatives from partnering legal organizations, especially communications professionals and other executive staff.
  • Liaison and communicate with members to create content, including interviewing, writing articles and developing and managing podcasts.
  • Work with media contacts to organize and assist with member and association promotional interviews and press releases.
  • Perform other related duties as required.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree from four-year college or university.
  • A minimum of 3 years-experience in any of the following areas: communications, writing, editing, marketing, publications, journalism.
  • Preferred candidates will have experience as a writer for a professional organization.
  • Experience in the legal profession, publishing, media, social media, or podcasts is a plus.
  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite.
  • Excellent communication, technology, organizational skills, and attention to detail.
  • Ability to deal effectively and professionally with CBA members and the public.
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision and to meet deadlines.
