Job Summary

Learning Grove is seeking a full or part-time director for the Young Families Program. This program offers home visits to families prenatally through age 3. The Director is responsible for the day-to-day management of the program, and is involved in program planning, budgeting, and staffing.

The Program Director is responsible for the day-to-day management of the program, and is involved in program planning, budgeting, and staffing. The Program Director is the primary spokesperson for the Young Families, Inc. program. The Program Director is also involved in facilitating ongoing collaboration with community/state partners.
 
Responsibilities: 
  • Complete all trainings required by their position or recommended by their supervisor.
  • Attend in services and trainings annually to meet the required number of continuing education training hours.
  • Assure that all supervised staff complete the required trainings.
  • Familiarize self with, and adhere to, the policies, procedures and practices of ECS and HANDS.
  • Ensure that the programmatic and fiscal strategic goals of the program are achieved.
  • Prepares reports and correspondence related to the program administration.
  • Oversees coding and processing of monthly bills and expenses.
  • Attend monthly supervision to review job responsibilities, discuss challenges with providing program services and staff support, and discuss professional growth and development.
  • Facilitate YF team meetings and retreats and attend other LG, ECS, or HANDS meetings as required.
  • Monitors staff development and retention, directs disciplinary action and performance evaluation of staff.
  • Conduct record reviews and maintain the data collection system. Review weekly home visit documentation, IFSP’s, assessments, forms and inventories, and parent/child information.
  • Meet weekly (formal and informal supervision and team meetings) with all assigned staff to provide intensive documented supervision.
  • Develop and maintain knowledge of and relationships with collaborating agencies and community resources and assist families with referrals and linkages to other supportive services in the community.
  • Monitor staff compliance with policies, procedures and program guidelines.
Requirements: 
  • Social Worker that is licensed as a BSW/LSW, MSW/LISW, CSW, LCSW, RN. Experience in Every Child Succeeds and HANDS preferred. Supervision experience required.
  • Ability to establish a warm, supportive, working relationship with parents, children, and families one-on-one in their homes and in group settings.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to be culturally sensitive and non-judgmental with individuals who may not share the same value systems and behavioral norms.
  • Ability to establish and maintain personal/programmatic boundaries, while providing supportive services.
  • A strong sense of and respect for confidentiality involving both families and staff.
  • Knowledge of maternal/infant health, child development and parent-child relationships.
  • Knowledge of principles of child abuse and neglect prevention.
  • Excellent written, verbal, and communication skills.
  • Knowledge of computers and applicable software programs.
  • Strong skills in the areas of initiative, follow-through, application and transfer of learning, planning, organization and time-management.
  • Ability to legally operate a motor vehicle, maintain a driver’s license in good standing, and provide own insured transportation.
