About the Role

As Director of Marketing, you will be responsible for developing and executing the entire UWGC marketing strategy through comprehensive planning, end-to-end creative, holistic and integrated content development, and program and project management.

You will work closely with the Chief Marketing Officer (CMO), senior leadership and department leaders to support strategic alignment, increase brand awareness, and ensure strong go-to-market execution that delivers on the desired experiences of our key stakeholders: board members, donors, volunteers, partner agencies, community organizations, local government, and the public.

You will build and strengthen the UWGC brand in all that we do by championing and leading our presence across all media platforms (traditional + digital), branded events, and local sponsorships.

You will be reporting to the CMO, and working closely with the PR and Communications Manager, and leadership from the Community Impact and Resource Development departments. You will lead and manage a team of three.

We need a skilled, driven, motivated, and nimble marketing leader to support our growth strategy. 

 

Key Areas of Responsibility: 

Team Leadership, and People Management

  • Hire, train, manage, mentor, evaluate, and coach staff who are responsible for daily channel management, including media relations, digital development, direct-response marketing, and brand collateral.
  • Identify team goals, motivate, and monitor progress, while offering constructive coaching, education, and encouragement.
  • Assist the Resource Development team with planning and production of revenue generating products, including positioning, editorial and tone leadership, implementation, and analysis.
  • Interface with other departments regarding promotional needs and provide strategic and creative guidance support as needed.

 

Marketing Strategy and Execution

  • Development and implementation of a structured annual marketing plan to reach target audience, including (but not limited to) creating collateral, messaging, social media, advertising, public relations and communications and traditional media with a vision and path to larger 3-year plan.
  • Plan and execute a fully integrated annual marketing programming calendar that links all Above-the-Line (ATL) and Below-the-Line (BTL) marketing activations against our brand strategy.
  • Provides data analytics and quarterly reporting to track, monitor and inform marketing strategy and outcomes across all channels.
  • Conceptualize and implement market research studies to determine member and/or user satisfaction with UWGC programs and services to analyze results and measure success. Work with department leaders to consider revisions to strategic directions and marketing plans based on the results of these studies and the changing environment as necessary.
  • Oversee all project management workflow of marketing department including creative requests, campaign development, etc.
  • Work with the CMO to develop annual marketing budgets that are consistent with marketing plans agreed upon with each division/department.

 

Brand Awareness and Activation Management

  • Oversee and maintain UWGC’s advertising and events strategy to promote the achievement of our goals and objectives.
  • Manage the advertising and events budget, ensuring all media buys and partnerships are timely and include in-kind donations.
  • Manage and lead the strategy and execution of all major UWGC events and partnerships.
  • Provide insight and analysis of marketing trends, audience landscape and drivers affecting public policy.
  • Brief and lead agencies through concept development, KPIs plan, key learnings, and reporting. Oversee project timelines, budget allocations, and success measurement. Handle cross-functional team feedback and operational workflows.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent, preferred.
  • Minimum of 10 years of Marketing and Communications experience.
  • Various experiences building a brand in multiple markets, keeping in mind cultural differences across audience segments. Five years of leading people as a manager.
  • Background in complex organizations of commensurate size and scope.
  • Skilled at effectively presenting information and ideas to executive teams, volunteers, and the board of directors.
  • Proven effectiveness in working in a team environment, facilitating groups, and working with leadership volunteers.
  • Recognized as a collaborative, motivational, supportive, and visionary leader.
  • Strong organizational, time management, interpersonal, and communication skills.
  • Must be flexible to changes, able to work independently, and have strong problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent oral/written communication skills.
  • Experience working with computerized software, such as Microsoft Word, Outlook, Excel, or other similar programs.

Working conditions: 

  • This position is in an office environment but may be required to be on-site at donor/partner locations.
  • Ability to travel locally.
  • May require working some evenings and weekends.
  • Fast-paced, evolving, and dynamic environment.
  • This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, printers, and audio-video equipment.
