Job Summary

The Director of Development (DOD) manages the day-to-day fundraising for the College’s priorities as determined by the President of the College, and under the direction of the VP of Advancement.  The DOD is responsible for prospect identification, cultivation, solicitation and stewardship of donors. The DOD identifies, cultivates and solicits prospects for major and/or annual gifts from individuals, corporations and foundations.

Job Summary

Director of Development (DOD) manages the day-to-day fundraising for the College’s priorities as determined by the President of the College, and under the direction of the VP of Advancement. DOD is responsible for prospect identification, cultivation, solicitation and stewardship of donors. DOD identifies, cultivates and solicits prospects for major and/or annual gifts from individuals, corporations and foundations.

Job Duties:

  • Prospect management: Builds, maintains and serves as the primary prospect manager for a portfolio of prospects at a capacity level of $10,000 or greater. Prospect qualification: identifies and tracks new prospects to increase the College’s portfolio. Maintains prospect and donor contact information in the College and the KCTC System’s fundraising database.
  • Prospect cultivation: initiates face-to-face meetings with donors and prospects with the intention of engaging prospects with the College and advancing a conversation about philanthropic support for Gateway CTC.
  • Prospect solicitation: drives the strategic planning for prospect solicitations. Serves as an active participant in planned solicitations at the lead and major gift levels. Responsible for sponsorships and corporate table sales at the College’s Annual Fundraising Event.
  • Prospect stewardship: develops and implements an annual stewardship plan focused on specific initiatives for acknowledgement, recognition and reporting. Assist in the creation and distribution of donor communications, including a donor newsletter.
  • Leads the College’s Annual Fund efforts, Board giving efforts, and faculty & staff giving efforts and campaigns.
  • Reporting & Admin: serves as a staff liaison for the Philanthropy committee of the Foundation Board. Internally, advises department chairs, faculty and other academic leaders on development activities, as needed. Externally, DOD may represent the College at community events, business associations, etc. Communicate to VP for Development through oral and written reports on the progress of fundraising priorities and pertinent donor information. Advise the VP on external and development activities and important events and programs to attend; be a highly informed advocate for the College inside and outside of campuses. Performs other duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent
  • 4 years of relevant experience. Commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion.
  • Excellent organizational skills; high attention to detail; independent; self-motivated; able to work in a fast-paced, changing environment.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills; ability to communicate with many individuals at all levels throughout the internal college environment and external business and community partners, representing himself/herself professionally and courteously.
  • Ability to communicate clearly verbally and, in writing.
  • Ability to multi-task, work under deadlines, and prioritize projects to meet deadlines with high levels of efficiency and accuracy.
  • Must have proficient computer skills in Microsoft Office (Excel, Forms, Outlook, Teams, SharePoint, and Word).
     

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in and understanding of working with students from diverse populations is preferred.
  • Experience working at the community college level is preferred.
