Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and strategic Director of Development to lead our fundraising efforts with a focus on donor cultivation and outreach. The Director of Development will play a key role in securing funding to support our programs and initiatives, researching and writing grants, as well as planning and executing successful fundraising events.

Position Overview:

We are seeking a highly motivated and strategic Director of Development to lead our fundraising efforts with a focus on donor cultivation and outreach. The Director of Development will play a key role in securing funding to support our programs and initiatives, researching and writing grants, as well as planning and executing successful fundraising events.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Donor Engagement:
    • Identify and cultivate relationships with individual donors, major donors, corporate sponsors and other potential funding sources.
    • Manage and nurture relationships with existing donors while expanding our donor base.
    • Collaborate with the Board of Directors, Executive team, staff, and volunteers to build a culture of philanthropy within the organization.
    • Collaborate with the development team to create donor-focused materials and communications.
    • Cultivate and maintain relationships with partners, donors, and collaborators to expand the reach and influence of our programs.
  2. Grant Writing and Management:
    • Identify and research potential grant opportunities from government agencies, foundations, and corporations.
    • Write compelling grant proposals and applications to secure funding.
    • Cultivate and maintain relationships with grant-making organizations.
  3. Fundraising Events:
    • Develop and implement a comprehensive events strategy, including annual fundraising events, donor appreciation events, and other fundraising campaigns.
    • Oversee the development team and their efforts in event planning, including budgeting, logistics, marketing, and volunteer management.
    • Provide leadership and supervision of the development team to promote events and engage donors and sponsors.
    • Evaluate the success of events and implement improvements for future events.
  4. Team Leadership and Collaboration:
    • Lead and mentor a team of development professionals, providing guidance and support in donor engagement, event planning, and grant writing.
    • Collaborate with the Executive team and Board of Directors to align fundraising efforts with organizational goals and strategies.
    • Collaborate with internal teams and stakeholders to identify programming needs, opportunities, and areas for growth.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in business, marketing, education; Master's degree a plus.
  • 5 years of experience in marketing, nonprofit fundraising, donor cultivation and engagement.
  • Strong passion for and understanding of adults with developmental and intellectual disabilities.
  • Exceptional leadership and team management skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire a diverse team.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Strategic thinker with the ability to translate vision into actionable plans and goals.

Compensation:

Competitive salary based on experience and qualifications. Benefits including a 401K, generous PTO, cell phone reimbursement allowance and flexible schedules.
