The primary function of this position is to manage the Annual Fund, digital campaigns, and carefully construct online and print materials that clearly disseminate information to donors and supporters about PPSWO, our services and programs, fundable opportunities, donor giving circles, advocacy efforts, and the impact of their contributed revenue.
Through superb writing and attention to detail, this position will craft messaging that appeals to different audiences in order to increase revenue and support fundraising efforts, strengthen the role of PPSWO in the community, and reach a diverse range of audiences.

SCOPE OF POSITION:
Together we raise more than $5.0 million annually to make sure that Planned Parenthood Southwest Ohio (PPSWO) can provide quality reproductive health care to those who need it most. We need your enthusiasm, energy, skills and passion to expand our excellent team.
 
JOB SUMMARY:
The Director of Development, Annual Fund, writes and develops fundraising materials for the Development team in order to grow the PPSWO donor and supporter base, effectively motivate key audiences, and increase the value and impact of the organization’s segmented donor strategy. The primary function of this position is to manage the Annual Fund, digital campaigns, and carefully construct online and print materials that clearly disseminate information to donors and supporters about PPSWO, our services and programs, fundable opportunities, donor giving circles, advocacy efforts, and the impact of their contributed revenue.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
1.      Plans and executes the Annual Fund program for our 23-county region in southwest Ohio and northern Kentucky.
a.       Manages and tracks program metrics including expenses and revenue.
b.      Establishes and meets mutually agreed upon financial goals for moving donors through fundraising cycle, including meaningful contacts, dollars solicited and dollars raised.
c.       Works with the Development Associate to ensure Annual Fund gifts are processed and acknowledged in a timely manner.
d.      Identifies Annual Fund donors who have the capacity to significantly increase giving; coordinates with Development team members for the movement of donors from Annual Fund to other giving programs.
2.      Manages all elements of direct response mail: composes written materials, defines targeted list segmentation, assigns dollar handle strategies, collaborates with internal departments for graphic design, and coordinates external vendors for printing and mailing.
a.       Writes, edits, and project manages the production of all donor-facing communication materials including: solicitations, acknowledgements, newsletters, invitations and emergent donor communications.
3.      Supports meaningful donor recognition programs and assists with identifying opportunities for engagement at all levels of giving (major gifts, affinity groups, giving circle and corporate members) including cultivation and stewardship events.
a.       Supports special stewardship projects including: follow up letters after VIP events, holiday card mailings, “swag” mailings, invitations to special events, personal calls to donors, etc.
4.      Liaises with the PPSWO Communications & Marketing (C&M) team to ensure brand identity of PPSWO is represented to external audiences in a consistent, meaningful way.
a.       Edits and proofreads all external donor publications, such as annual reports, fundraising brochures, website copy and mass email messages; provides feedback on talking points, scripts, and remarks to the C&M team for clear and concise conveyance of fundraising impact on beneficiaries of PPSWO programs and services.
b.      Supports the PPSWO digital marketing strategy, including the production of electronic newsletters and the coordination of regular emails to donors; collaborates with C&M team on social media and digital marketing as it relates to donor rapid response, fundraising events and giving days.
c.       Represent PPSWO on national Planned Parenthood EveryAction (email platform) team, which includes monthly trainings, cross-affiliate collaborations, EveryAction targeted emails and reporting.
d.      Prepares Annual Fund reports and PowerPoint slides for PPSWO Board of Trustees bi-monthly meetings and trainings.
5.      Adheres to all policies and procedures as established by Planned Parenthood Federation of America and PPSWO, such as: gift acceptance, gift counting, and gift processing, AFP Ethics and Donor Bill of Rights. Fulfills information requests and maintains reporting accuracy to ensure continued compliance for Affiliate Accreditation purposes.
6.      Performs other duties as assigned by supervisor
 
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS:
·         Passionate commitment to PPSWO’s mission and values related to health equity, especially centering on racial equity, and a deep sense of accountability to community. Demonstrated understanding of the role that racial inequity plays in our society and its impact on healthcare systems and care delivery.
·         Demonstrated ability to be responsive to changing priorities and simultaneously handle multiple complex initiatives. Strong attention to detail.
·         Excellent relationship building and communication skills, including a high level of self-awareness, empathy, and humility in interpersonal interactions.
·         Bachelor’s degree and CFRE accreditation preferred.
·         At least three (5) years of professional fundraising experience in the nonprofit sector.
·         Excellent interpersonal skills and an ability to confidently ask for major gifts.
·         Experience with fundraising tools including research, prospect development, direct mail, proposal writing, major gifts, and planned giving.
·         Managerial experience with interns, volunteers, and committees.
·         Experience with financial record-keeping software as well as common word processing, database management, spreadsheets and online communication technology.
·         Excellent organizational skills.
·         Must be a discreet individual with well-developed analytical and problem-solving abilities.
·         Must maintain strict confidentiality with donor information.
 
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/WORKING CONDITIONS:
·         Ability to get to the work site; also other PPSWO health centers and meetings when required.
