Job Summary

Position Overview

Magnified Giving is seeking a relational and thoughtful Director of Advancement to lead day-to-day fundraising efforts and strengthen philanthropic support. This role focuses on building authentic donor relationships while contributing to systems and strategies that support long-term sustainability.

Reporting to the CEO, the Director of Advancement partners with staff and key volunteers to cultivate, solicit, and steward donors. The role is both strategic and hands-on, requiring someone who is comfortable engaging directly with supporters while managing the operational side of advancement.

Key Responsibilities

Fundraising & Donor Engagement

  • Execute fundraising activities that grow donor engagement and overall giving
  • Identify and cultivate prospective donors through community connections and existing networks
  • Manage a portfolio of donors, with increasing focus on mid-level and major gifts
  • Partner with the CEO to prepare for donor outreach, meetings, and solicitations
  • Collaborate with the Program Department to prepare for grant proposals
  • Ensure consistent and meaningful stewardship of current supporters

Strategy & Growth

  • Contribute to a defined and measurable fundraising plan
  • Build and maintain a clear donor pipeline with consistent tracking and follow-up
  • Support growth in individual giving and diversification of revenue sources
  • Strengthen systems and processes that will support long-term advancement efforts

Events & Community Engagement

  • Lead planning and execution of fundraising and engagement events
  • Work closely with staff and volunteers to support strong event experiences
  • Maintain relationships with community partners and stakeholders

Operations & Grants

  • Oversee advancement operations, including coordination of communications and follow-up
  • Maintain accurate donor records and improve tracking and reporting systems over time
  • Research and submit grant proposals
  • Manage advancement-related budget areas with attention to efficiency and impact

Team Leadership

  • Supervise the Advancement Manager
  • Provide direction and support to interns and volunteers
  • Collaborate across the organization to align advancement work with broader priorities

Qualifications

  • 3–7+ years of experience in fundraising, development, or relationship-based roles
  • Grant writing experience
  • Demonstrated ability to build trust and engage donors
  • Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a growing organization
  • Comfortable working both independently and as part of a team

Preferred Qualifications

  • Familiarity with donor databases and reporting systems
  • Computer proficient
  • Experience planning events or donor engagement activities
  • Experience in nonprofit, education, or youth-serving organizations
  • Experience with planned giving oversight
  • Experience with team management

Position Details

  • Reports to: CEO
  • Schedule: Typically 32 hours per week, Monday–Thursday
  • Flexibility: Hybrid role with flexibility for in-person and remote work
  • Additional Time: Occasional evening and off-hours events required, occasional travel required
  • Status: Salaried, exempt

Compensation & Benefits

Salary is commensurate with experience. Salary range: $70,000-$80,000
Benefits include:

  • 11 paid holidays annually
  • 10 days of vacation annually, with additional time awarded based on tenure
  • Employees are eligible for reimbursement of health insurance premiums and qualified out-of-pocket medical expenses

As Magnified Giving continues to expand its advancement efforts, there is an opportunity for this position to evolve into a Vice President of Advancement role with increased strategic ownership, leadership responsibility, and compensation aligned with organizational growth.
