Job Description

Children’s Law Center, Inc. (CLC) is hiring a Development Director in its Covington office, to oversee its fundraising and development activities. Established in 1989, CLC is a non-profit legal service center protecting the rights of children and youth.

Primary Responsibilities:
1) Establish and implement an annual plan for fundraising and development activities, in conjunction
with the Executive Director, Development Committee of the Board of Directors, and other staff as
appropriate. Identify prospects, complete research, develop donor profiles, and carry out an
effective strategy for securing gifts from individual, corporate, family, and foundation donors.
2) Coordinate, write and submit funding applications and reports to funders.
3) Coordinate a minimum of two special events each year, including a large annual fundraiser.
4) Engage the Center’s Board of Directors in fundraising activities, identifying other donors, and
fulfilling their annual pledges.
5) Assist with obtaining support for programs, capital projects, and special events as necessary
through corporate support, foundations, and individual donors.
6) Support the creation of new giving opportunities (e.g. planned giving).
7) Maintain/create appropriate files and correspondence regarding grants, events, and other giving.
8) Work with the Office Administrator to maintain a donor database to track contributions.
9) Assist with public relations efforts such as the newsletter, TV and print media, and the website.
10) Maintain a good working relationship with the board, staff, donors, volunteers, and community
sources.


Minimum Qualifications:
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Excellent organizational and planning skills, including the ability to multitask.
• Computer skills, including proficiency with Word, Excel, and other computer programs related to
duties.
• Passion for serving children and youth, in alignment with CLC’s mission.
Additional Qualifications that Strengthen an Application:
• Experience in development/fundraising, including grant research, grant writing, planned giving,
donor engagement and cultivation, and/or event planning. Ideally, 5+ years experience.
• Strong skills and demonstrated success in grant writing.
• Record of success in planning and organizing events and soliciting major gifts from individuals and
foundations.
• Social media proficiency, and experience successfully optimizing social-media-based fundraising.
• Knowledge of donor databases and development administrative processes.
• Associate, Bachelor’s, or Master’s Degree in the related field.
