Job Summary

The Director of Development serves as the primary architect of The LIT Movement’s revenue strategy. This position is responsible for designing and executing comprehensive fundraising initiatives, including individual donor cultivation, grant procurement, corporate partnerships, and signature fundraising events. The Director of Development ensures the organization’s financial sustainability by building long-term relationships and implementing data-driven development strategies.

  • Strategy & Planning: Design, implement, and monitor a multi-year development strategy to meet annual revenue targets.
  • Fundraising Operations: Oversee the full lifecycle of fundraising, including identification, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship of individual, corporate, and foundation donors.
  • Grant Management: Conduct comprehensive research to identify foundation and government funding opportunities; draft, edit, and submit high-quality grant proposals and required progress reports.
  • Event Management: Lead the logistics, marketing, sponsorship acquisition, and volunteer coordination for major annual fundraising events.
  • Donor Relations: Manage the donor management database (CRM); ensure timely gift acknowledgment, recognition, and ongoing stewardship communications.
  • Reporting: Track and analyze key performance indicators (KPIs) for development activities; prepare monthly/quarterly reports for the Executive Director and Board of Directors.
  • Board Engagement: Partner with the Board of Directors to advance development goals through active engagement, board giving campaigns, and strategic use of board relationships for donor cultivation and fundraising success.
  • Resource Management: Oversee the development department budget, ensuring fiscal responsibility and ROI on all fundraising initiatives.
