Job Summary

Position Purpose

The Director of Development leads and expands IPM’s fundraising program with a strong emphasis on securing individual major gifts of $10,000+. This role manages a portfolio of major gift prospects and donors, creating and executing individualized cultivation and solicitation strategies, and building long-term philanthropic relationships. The position also oversees corporate partnerships, foundation support, church and community engagement, events, and stewardship activities while ensuring alignment with IPM’s overall development strategy.

Position Responsibilities

  • Manage a portfolio of all past, current, and prospect donors with an emphasis on individual major gift donors and prospects, including donor identification, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship.
  • Lead major gift solicitations at the $10,000+ level, ensuring timely acknowledgment.
  • Develop customized major gift strategies, including donor meetings, proposals, impact reports, and personalized stewardship plans.
  • Partner with the President/CEO and Board of Trustees to engage, cultivate and solicit major donors and others.
  • Lead all aspects of annual fundraising events with a focus on maximizing donor engagement and major gift pipeline development.
  • Maintain and execute annual strategy for development with individuals, businesses, foundations and churches.
  • Collaborate closely with marketing to tailor donor-facing materials and campaign messaging.
  • Supervise and support the Development and Grants Assistant in donor database management and grant writing and reporting.

 

Qualifications 

  • 3-5 years of demonstrated success in nonprofit development and fundraising including major gifts, peer-to-peer fundraising, events, and corporate partnerships.
  • Bachelor's degree required.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to interact professionally with a variety of constituencies.
  • Excellent verbal and written skills, creativity, independent judgment, attention to detail, accuracy, strong editing skills, and follow-through.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office and DonorPerfect or other CRM.
  • Driver’s license, reliable transportation and ability to travel for meetings and events required.
  • Must be able to work occasional evenings and weekends as needed.
