Job Summary

CancerFree KIDS seeks a dynamic fundraiser to oversee corporate fundraising, volunteer recruitment and management, and peer-to-peer and team-based fundraising efforts. The Development Director's primary responsibility will be to lead CancerFree KIDS' newest initiative and growth strategy, the 100 Mile Challenge, a month-long campaign encouraging corporate and community participants alike to raise at least $100 while completing 100 Miles through any activity of choice. Outside of the 100 Mile Challenge Campaign, the Development Director will oversee the peer-to-peer fundraising initiatives for CancerFree KIDS' high school campaign, Night for the Fight, and the family and community engagement campaign, the Butterfly Walk.

Job Description

CancerFree KIDS Development Director: 

CancerFree KIDS seeks a dynamic fundraiser to oversee corporate fundraising, volunteer recruitment and management, and peer-to-peer and team-based fundraising efforts. The Development Director's primary responsibility will be to lead CancerFree KIDS' newest initiative and growth strategy, the 100 Mile Challenge, a month-long campaign encouraging corporate and community participants alike to raise at least $100 while completing 100 Miles through any activity of choice. Outside of the 100 Mile Challenge Campaign, the Development Director will oversee the peer-to-peer fundraising initiatives for CancerFree KIDS' high school campaign, Night for the Fight, and the family and community engagement campaign, the Butterfly Walk.

CancerFree KIDS is a Greater Cincinnati-based non-profit organization that does one thing: we fund research to end childhood cancer. CancerFree KIDS is funded through the generosity of our corporate and individual donors. This support predominately comes through our signature events, community partnerships, and individual fundraising efforts on behalf of CancerFree KIDS. 

Since its inception in 2002, CancerFree KIDS has funded 215 research projects totaling $9.45 million. In 2023, we hit a benchmark in our investments of $1,250,000 for the first time to our partners at Cincinnati Children's Hospital and Nationwide Children's Hospital in Columbus, OH.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prospect, secure, and manage corporate partners engaged in the 100 Mile Challenge Campaign
  • Recruit and manage executive volunteer leadership for the 100 Mile Challenge Campaign
  • Assist in implementing fundraising strategies in conjunction with the Vice President of Development
  • Identify and secure corporate sponsors with support from the Vice President of Development
  • Oversee peer-to-peer, social, and team-based fundraising for the following CancerFree KIDS events, including but not limited to: 
    o    100 Mile Challenge, www.cfk100milechallenge.org  
    o    Night for the Fight, www.nightforthefight.org
    o    Butterfly Walk, www.butterflywalk.org 
    o    Endurance Programs (marathon fundraising)
    o    Third-party events with social fundraising components
  • Build and maintain relationships with existing and new individual and corporate donors, foundations, and families personally impacted by childhood cancer.
  • Identify creative ways to steward, cultivate, and inspire participants to increase engagement and passion for our mission.
  • Perform office work directly related to the policies and mission of the organization.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Demonstrated success in fundraising or sales, minimum 2+ years preferred.
  • Ability to use independent judgment and discretion.
