Job Summary: The Development Coordinator plays a key role in supporting the creation and execution of the Down Syndrome Association of Greater Cincinnati’s overall development strategy by strengthening and increasing donor relationships through meaningful stewardship activities with the focus being the procurement of new donors.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with the Development Director to shape and implement strategies for individual donor engagement.
  • Support corporate revenue growth by researching and identifying new corporate prospects, initiating introductory outreach, and sharing qualified leads with the Development Director for relationship assignment and stewardship.
  • Cultivate and steward a portfolio of current and prospective individual donors, serving as their primary point of contact.
  • Strengthen relationships with current individual donors through consistent stewardship, communication, and engagement efforts to support long-term giving and prepare for future organizational campaigns. 
  • Lead corporate stewardship for designated programs or campaigns outside of the Buddy Walk and Golf Outing, serving as the primary point of contact for corporate partners assigned to those initiatives.
  • Lead the creation of a branded, multi-channel annual appeal—including theme development, messaging, design direction, donor segmentation, and campaign analysis—to drive year-end giving.
  • Ensure timely acknowledgement and recording of gifts.
  • Facilitate growth of legacy giving by focusing on outreach and relationship building efforts that encourage planned giving and long-term donor engagement.
  • Fully participate in signature agency fundraising and engagement events.
  • Participate in a coordinated process with the Development Director to determine the best organizational fit for new corporate contacts (event sponsorship, program support, annual initiatives, etc.) and assign lead relationship roles accordingly.
  • Support Capital Campaign efforts.

 

 

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, marketing or communications.
  • 2+ years of progressive fundraising experience, preferably in a nonprofit setting.
  • Proven track record of meeting or exceeding fundraising goals.
  • Strong relationship-building and communication skills.
  • Experience with donor databases and CRM systems.
  • Experience with facilitating a capital campaign is required.
  • Excellent writing, project management, and organizational skills.
  • Shows respect for others, commitment to quality and integrity, is self-motivated and has a positive attitude.
  • Commitment to equity and inclusion in the workplace and in meeting the needs of those we serve.
  • Flexible schedule: some weekend and evening hours are required.
  • Valid driver’s license is required.
  • Candidate must be able to pass a state, federal and child abuse registry background check.

 

Hours/Benefits:

  • This is a part-time position; 22-25 hours weekly.
  • Benefits include PTO, Holiday Pay, 401K Matching, Merit Bonus Program, hybrid scheduling with some work-from-home opportunity.
