Job Summary

Easterseals Redwood seeks a dynamic CFO to provide strategic leadership, coordination, and focus for financial activities across our portfolio of programs and social enterprises. The CFO will be an active participant in the development of the agency’s Mission, Vision, Strategy and Culture as we integrate two of the region’s premier nonprofits.

Job Description

The CFO is directly responsible for furthering the mission of Easterseals Redwood by ensuring the financial well-being of the organization so it can better meet the needs of the growing number of people with disabilities, veterans, and people with economic disadvantages we serve. The CFO will research and understand key economic and industry trends and utilize financial analysis in the development of the organization’s overall financial strategy. The CFO will develop the metrics needed to monitor and support this strategy and develop the control systems designed to preserve company assets and report accurate financial results. The CFO is responsible for building effective teams and partnering with senior leadership in the development of new services, and offerings.

The CFO position reports to the President and CEO, and is a member of the Senior Leadership Team.

Situation Overview

Easterseals Redwood was formed by the recent combination of Easterseals serving Greater Cincinnati and Redwood of Northern Kentucky, two of the premier nonprofits in the region. The agency is positioned for growth, has a strong financial position, and has a positive and energetic employee culture. The company has a strong accounting and finance team who report to this position.

The President and CEO is looking for a right-hand partner who will work with the Senior Leadership Team and the Board of Directors to make optimal business decisions that align with and support the strategic and business plan initiatives of the agency. Ideally, the CFO will have a passion for innovation given the growing needs of individuals in our region for our services.

Snapshot of Key Accountabilities for the Position:

  • Work collaboratively with CEO, the Board of Directors, and other members of the senior leadership team to establish the strategic plan for the organization, annual operating objectives, organizational policies and procedures for attaining defined objectives
  • Develop and utlilize forward-looking predictive models and activity-based financial analyses to provide insight into the organization’s operations and plans
  • Oversee cash flow planning and ensure availability of funds as needed.
  • Develop company financial performance measures to support the company’s strategic plan
  • Prepare monthly forecast updates and modeling
  • Engage the finance, audit and endowment committees of the Board of Directors
  • Manage company financial resources and represent the company in relationships with financial partners including banks, public officials and auditors
  • Help improve and build internal control systems
  • Lead the preparation of annual financial statements and filings of 990 and A133; coordinate work with external auditors
  • Ensure that record keeping meets the standards of GAAP and government agencies, including the OMB Circular
  • Lead the accounting department to ensure proper accounting and transaction process systems for Easterseals and its subsidiary operations

Skills/Experience/Knowledge required:

  • Ten+ years of experience, including minimum five years as CFO or senior level financial position
  • MBA in Finance and/or Certified Public Accountant or Certified Management Accountant designations preferred but not required.
  • Advanced applications software expertise in Excel, Salesforce and Blackbaud Financial Edge preferred
